2007 Quick update

Date March 8th, 2007 Comment No Comments

It’s March 2007, and we haven’t updated the English version of the web site - that might have given the impression that we’re somehow slacking off -

Anyways, we’ve been very active - We’ve proceeded with two new projects,  :

  1. Educational Mentoring / Guidance day
  2. Math tutoring in the Carmel school

The former project has already been concluded and was a terrific success - we had around 9 stations, with every station had three to four young employee’s from the industry that had recently finished their studies - and were answering the students’ questions in a ‘free roaming’ style day.

More details on that soon as we wrap up the summary video of the project.

The latter project on the other hand, is an ongoing project with the Carmel school where we tutor, on a weekly basis, kids that would like reinforcement in Maths, mainly to help them succeed on the final state exams.

One more project that took place in the end of 2006, was a play day for children with cancer in the local Rambam Hotel - we somehow let that one slip on the English-version of the web site - so for now, check out this video here

26 November, 2006 - Haifa Al Fatah attended a demonstration supporting the Hiwar school against the unpredecented moves held by the Haifa municipality, where criminal charges were submitted against the parents of the Hiwar students, accusing them of not sending their children to licensed schools.

This last move after after a series of attacks against the Hiwar school and parents by the municipality, a school that has been striking against its shutdown for 2 months now.

Haifa al Fatah is committed in upholding the right of these parents and children in quality education, we will keep you guys updated with the latest developments in the matter.

Haifa Al Fatah continues to support the Hiwar students, the group joined forces to put together a fun Haifa Al Fatah day that included a variety of activities such as Domino building, Dance Pad games (DDR-like), the Mummy game, Twister and face-paintings that everyone enjoyed. The atmosphere was electrifying and positive with the kids and group playfully helping one another enjoy the day.

The fun-day took place at 27/10/2006, and on a more personal note, we hope the Hiwar kids enjoy the new headquarters near Eli baguette!

Jadal Updates

Date November 1st, 2006 Comment 1 Comment

Hello everyone,
I’d just like to mention that our english page is not a 1:1 translation from the Arabic page - We offer relatively more details in our Arabic page due to it being our mother tongue language.

Alright, so what have we been up to? The Jadal project is proceeding nicely, we’ve had three episodes so far, covering:

  1. Art of Debate
  2. Palestinian lesbians in our community
  3. The media, and specifically written Israeli media

There’s lovely attendance, and if you find yourself wanting to join the project, we provide two contact numbers, Rawan and Orwa, so you can sign up (no registeration fees needed :-)

We’re working hard on filming the episodes and sharing them with you online, but we haven’t found a dedicated filming crew that’s willing to volunteer - Hopefully we’ll have someone for next time!

Till next time, keep visiting us and providing us with your feedback (Email, or comments right here!)
Cheers,

Haifa Al Fatah Crew

Haifa Al Fatah has been volunteering daily for nearly two months in the Hiwar school, the school that was deemed to be shut down by Israel, help that included tutoring the children, helping with organisation and preparing the new building that Hiwar school will reside in for the upcoming year.
